Custom AGV & AMR Integration for Manufacturing

Manufacturing requirements do not always fit standard transport systems. BEC Robotics closes this gap through engineering, integration and application-specific adaptations.

Existing load carriers, specialized products, limited installation space and demanding process requirements often require more than a standard AGV or AMR deployment. As a manufacturer-independent integrator, we combine proven transport technologies with engineering expertise to create solutions that fit real production environments. Whether adapting load handling concepts, improving positioning performance or integrating transport systems into existing manufacturing processes, our focus is always on reliable material flow and long-term operational performance.

Heavy Load & Special Transport

Not all transport challenges are defined by weight alone. Long materials, oversized workpieces, specialized load carriers and demanding process requirements often exceed the capabilities of standard transport systems.

BEC Robotics develops autonomous transport solutions for applications requiring precise positioning, reliable load handling and safe transport of heavy or unconventional products. The result is transport automation engineered around real manufacturing requirements instead of standard vehicle specifications.

Platform Integration & System Selection

Platform Integration & System Selection

Successful transport automation starts with selecting the right platform. As a manufacturer-independent integrator, BEC Robotics works with leading AGV and AMR suppliers to identify the most suitable technology for each application.

Where standard systems provide the right fit, we focus on efficient integration and deployment. When applications require additional functionality, vehicle platforms can be adapted to support specialized load handling, enhanced positioning performance or application-specific process requirements.

Connected Manufacturing Systems

The greatest value of autonomous transport systems is achieved when transport, robotics and production equipment operate as a connected system. BEC Robotics integrates AGVs, robotic handling systems and manufacturing software to create automated material flow across multiple production processes.

From material flow automation and robotic systems to software integration and on-site commissioning, each project is engineered to support reliable, scalable and efficient production operations.

01

Assessment & Planning

BEC engineers assess production workflows, material flow, traffic conditions and interface requirements across the facility. Existing WMS, ERP systems, machines, conveyors and industrial equipment are reviewed to define the automation architecture, communication requirements and integration strategy.

02

System Integration

AGV systems and automation workflows are configured using operational data, facility layouts and production requirements prior to deployment. Route structures, traffic rules, robotic operations, control logic and system interfaces are prepared and validated off-site to reduce on-site commissioning effort and minimise production disruption.

03

Commissioning & Validation

The configured system is deployed and commissioned on-site under operational conditions. BEC validates navigation behaviour, station accuracy, system communication and safety functions prior to production release.

04

Monitoring & Optimisation

Following deployment, AGV fleet performance and operational stability are continuously monitored and supported during ramp-up. BEC provides remote support, system optimisation and ongoing technical assistance to maintain safe, stable and efficient production operations over time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about our robotics systems, integration process, and project capabilities.

AGVs traditionally follow predefined routes using magnetic tape, rails or reflectors, while AMRs navigate autonomously using onboard sensors and natural navigation. Today, most new mobile automation projects use AMRs because they can adapt to changing production environments without fixed guidance infrastructure. Modern AMRs can also incorporate guided navigation features, such as magnetic guidance or fixed routes, where the application or production environment requires repeatable vehicle paths.

Key differences:

  • AGVs (Automated Guided Vehicles) follow predefined, fixed routes using magnetic tape, rails, or laser reflectors

  • AMRs (Autonomous Mobile Robots) navigate dynamically using sensors and AI, adapting in real time to obstacles and layout changes

  • AGVs are better for structured, repeatable transport in defined lanes

  • AMRs offer greater flexibility for dynamic environments and changing production layouts.

AMRs automate material transport between workstations, eliminating manual forklift trips, reducing waiting times, and operating 24/7. They improve material flow consistency, inventory accuracy, and warehouse throughput while reducing transport-related errors.

Yes. BEC AMRs use natural navigation and contour-based mapping. Where required, guided navigation features can be integrated into AMR systems without changing the overall vehicle concept. Platforms are designed for rapid deployment in existing brownfield environments.

BEC AMRs use laser scanners, 3D cameras, and intelligent navigation algorithms to map their surroundings, detect obstacles, and dynamically re-route in real time. Configurable safety zones trigger speed reduction or complete stops when people or objects are detected within defined proximity.

BEC offers autonomous mobile robot solutions for a wide range of payloads — from compact mobile robots for SLC and KLT transport to heavy-duty platforms carrying several tons. Solutions also include autonomous forklift systems for pallet transport and warehouse logistics, allowing the optimal platform to be selected for each application.

BEC's autonomous forklift solutions automate pallet picking, transport, and stacking across multiple shifts. They eliminate forklift accidents, integrate with WMS systems for optimised pallet flow, and operate in standard industrial aisles with a small turning radius.

Yes. BEC integrates autonomous forklift systems for pallet picking, transport and stacking across multiple shifts. Integrated with WMS and warehouse management processes, they automate pallet handling and help improve material flow in warehouses and production environments while reducing manual forklift traffic.

Autonomous mobile robots automate the transport of raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods between production stations. This eliminates manual transport trips, ensures machines are consistently supplied, reduces idle time caused by material shortages, and creates reliable, predictable material flow across the facility.

Yes. Mobile robot fleets can be scaled by adding additional vehicles and integrating them into the appropriate fleet management environment. Depending on the use case, BEC uses the AMR system's native navigation and fleet software or independent fleet management solutions. For special requirements, BEC software can run as a parallel service to handle customised process logic and data flows beyond standard functionality.

Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs) improve workplace safety by reducing manual transport tasks and minimising risks associated with forklift traffic and human error. Safety-rated laser scanners, 3D sensors, speed reduction, protective stops, and obstacle detection enable safe operation around people and equipment. BEC's systems comply with applicable safety standards and machinery directives. Safety concepts are engineered for each application, balancing production requirements, operator interaction and safe vehicle operation.
