BEC Robotics shows an application of the KUKA KMR Cybertech for a large hospital in Berlin. The mobile robot is used there to optimize the handling of sterile containers. The reprocessed medical instruments are delivered in sterile boxes and the robot takes over the fully automated handling: it scans the transport trolleys, removes the sterile boxes and stores them until they are called up. The stocks are tracked digitally via a seamless interface to the hospital system so that all the materials required for upcoming operations are available as needed and at short notice. The platform independently picks the sterile boxes required for the respective operation.
The KMR Cybertech is extremely versatile. The mobile robotic platform with a long reach and a payload of up to 25 kg is ideal for loading and unloading machine tools, shelves and transport trolleys and impresses with its omnidirectional mobility. The integrated KUKA KR Cybertech efficiently handles tools, blanks, finished parts, small load carriers, cartons and parcels. Thanks to fully integrated safety technology, the robot can also be used without fences or barriers. With autonomous navigation functions and laser sensors, the KUKA KMR Cybertech ensures maximum safety and reduces the need for manual labor.
The challenge: Our customer's loaded transport racks weigh more than 1.5 tons and are twice as long as the AGV used to move them. The size and weight...
